Environmental Policy

Expression Web is devoted to greening their internal practices as much as possible. In-house efforts to protect the environment occur day-to-day on both a large and small scale. The big picture is that the nature of web development and design allows our practice and profession to have a minimal carbon footprint. For example, powering our computers is the most environmentally demanding part of our work, and in the Province of Quebec most electricity is generated using hydro-electric power, a zero-emission form of power generation once constructed. Also much of our in-house computer technology is made by Apple, the only company in its industry to sell entirely non-toxic products that not only meet but exceed the ENERGY STAR product guidelines.

On a micro scale, Expression Web does all it can to encourage and maintain small but sustainable actions within the office and amongst its staff. For example, since the launch of Expression, over 10 years ago, our office has been virtually paperless, furthering our mission to offset our carbon footprint and not contribute to the increasing concern of a warming global climate. In addition, we recycle as much as we can, we make a point of purchasing recycled office supplies whenever possible, we use energy-efficient light bulbs, we compost and garden and 90% of our staff travels to and from the office using public transportation (50% biking or walking). Working with Expression, means working with experienced individuals who care as much as you do about keeping the planet cool – in every sense of the term!
