FireFlyTM Basic Features:
Page Editor

The Page Editor is the most commonly used tool in our system. This is where you’ll add and edit content to the individual pages of your site. The Page Editor uses simple web forms that allow you to modify content without any knowledge of HTML or web design.

In addition to adding and editing text, the Page Editor allows you to insert and change the images displayed on your page. The process is as simple as indicating to the system where you want to display the image, then browsing your computer to upload the image you want to use, saving your changes and you are done!

Advanced Text Formatting

Within the Page Editor, you’ll love using our Advanced Text Formatting tool. Users who are familiar with text editors such as Microsoft Word will recognize familiar tools such as bold, italic, bullets, numbering, align left, align right, align center and many more.

Preview Tool

With FireFlyTM, you can edit your site’s pages with confidence thanks to our Preview Tool. Before confirming the changes to a page, simply click for a page Preview. This way you are sure that everything is to your satisfaction before updating the site.

Media Manager

All your site’s images (and other media) are stored in FireFly’sTM Media Manager which lets you upload, view, organize and even tweak your images. This is also the library you’ll browse through when adding images to your pages.

Advanced Link Manager

The Link Manager tool allows you to build the site’s navigation by creating links from one page to another. By simply selecting a word, sentence or image, then clicking the Link button, you’ll access the Link Manager window. From here you can either create a link to a page outside your own site by entering the URL or to a page within your own site by selecting a page from the site map.

Dynamic Menu Manager

The true strength of a site is in how easy it is to navigate through. This is why we created the Dynamic Menu feature. This tool allows you to easily create menus that are simple and intuitive for your visitors to use. This feature allows many levels of menu depths and avoids over-crowding of the menu bar. Available in vertical or horizontal format, the Menu is always available and saves your visitors from always having to come back to the home page to explore other sections of the site. The color and style of the menu are fully customizable, and are determined during the initial CMS set-up.

Multi-Language Support

Another great FireFlyTM feature is multi-language support. More and more, websites have global needs, and offering your site’s content in more than one language is becoming a necessity. Our multi-language feature allows you to enter content in additional languages for the same page by simply selecting the language tab. Also, since FireFlyTM is customized to your specific needs during initial set-up, the primary, secondary and any other additional languages can be preset.

News and Events Editor

Fresh content and frequent updates will ensure that your web visitors return to your site again and again. For most companies, news and events are the most dynamic part of their website.

FireFlyTM has a specific tool that lets you write, edit, organize and schedule all your news and events. It even has a calendar system that allows you to schedule when a news item will appear on the site. In other words, you can create a news item, then instruct the system to start displaying it on your website at a later date (even down to the specific hour). Likewise, the calendar system allows you to schedule when a news item should expire and be removed from your site, or be transferred to your news archive section.

If your site features news on your home page AND on a general news page, FireFlyTM allows you easily select which news items (or how many news items) should be featured on you home page.

File and PDF Manager

Over the last few years, PDF files have become the standard format for most company’s downloadable and printable documents. As such, FireFlyTM gives them the outmost importance. The File and PDF Manager lets you organize all of your PDFs into folders, rename or delete PDFs, or simply visualize all the PDFs in your system. It also has an upload feature that allows you easily transfer PDF files from your computer to the CMS.

Versioning

Our versioning tool makes time-travel to the past possible by allowing you to return to any previously saved version of a specific web page. This feature is great for recovering old data or to reset a page in case of error.

Publish/Unpublish Tool

One of the most useful tools in our system is the Publish/Unpublish feature. This tool allows you to create pages in your CMS, but have them not be displayed on your site yet. This allows you to take your time to create your pages, or create your pages across multiple sessions. When the time comes you can tell the system to start displaying your saved pages. FireFly’sTM user-friendly interface lets you see at a glance which pages are published or unpublished.

SEO Assistant

A website is not worth much if no one can find it. FireFlyTM offers a number of tools to enhance Search Engine Optimization (SEO) such as an auto-generated site map and a meta-tag editor.

Administration Manager

If you plan to have more than one person administrating your site, you’ll love FireFly’sTM Administration Manager. As the master administrator of the site, you have access to all sections and functions of the CMS, which means that you can make changes anywhere in the site. However, you can also create lower-level administration accounts for various members of your staff. This allows you to grant access to certain parts of the CMS to certain people, and other parts to other people. For example, you may want to give your accounting department access to modify the site’s financial reports, but not to the site’s publications section.

New Features in 2.0
Members-Only

Add value to your site by offering exclusive content to your members or colleagues. This tool allows you to privatize any page on your site and allows you to create multiple member lists who can access specific private content on your site. The Members-Only tool also allows you to privatize any document such as PDFs, Word or PowerPoint Presentations. To help you keep in touch with members, the tool also allows you to send mass e-mails to all members in your lists.

Surveys and Questionnaires Tool

This tool allows you to simply and efficiently build surveys and questionnaires that can be posted anywhere on your site. Aggregate reports of the results of the surveys are available for your review in FireFly’sTM administrative section.

Drag and Drop Menu Editor

Organizing your site’s menu is now easier than ever thanks to FireFly’sTM new Drag & Drop Menu Editor. As the name implies, you can simply drag and drop menu items to reorganize your menu. This features is very practical to organize nestled menus with multiple sub-menu levels.

FireFlyTM Live Toolbar

As an administrator of your site, you can now use the FireFlyTM Live Toolbar. This toolbar is located at the bottom of your browser and is available as you browse your website. The Toolbar brings many administrative back-end features to the front-end of your site. For example, when viewing a page on your site that you wish to make changes to, one-click on the toolbar will launch the same page in edit-mode in the FireFlyTM administrator.
