Web Applications and Custom Tools

Custom web applications (or ‘apps’, as we like to call them) can be used for any number of functions. Tasks that were done on paper 15 years ago, and then done on desktop applications 5 years ago, can now be accomplished online. Having an application function on the internet, rather than on a desktop, allows you and any number of other users to share data from anywhere in the world simultaneously. Today, common tasks are accomplished by harnessing the power of the World Wide Web to deliver real-time access to information.

Apps can be used internally by your staff of colleagues. From accounting to project management to data reporting, any task that organizations perform day-in and day-out can and should be automated, and the best way to go about that is by utilizing a web-based application. With the appropriate custom app, all these tasks can be done online, where you and your colleagues can share data from anywhere in the world.

Apps can also be part of your website strategy to better serve your visitors. Here are a few examples of web apps:
Mapping tools (also called geolocation tools) allow your visitors to search for information in a map format. For example, we recently produced Fair Trade Canada’s “Fair Trade Finder,” a Google Maps enabled tool that allows users to search for fair trade products and producers in their area.
Apps can be built to suit any type of online transaction using customized e-commerce solutions. Major retailers should visit our page dedicated to larger e-commerce projects and solutions.
Search tool apps allow your visitors to search through any of your information databases, which can include publications lists, lists of events or lists of people for example.
Events Management apps allow you to manage your events, or even let your visitors submit their own events to be displayed on your site.

Inventory Management apps allow you and your partners to manage stock inventory at various locations.

These examples only scratch the surface of possible web applications. Contact us to learn more about how to turn your web-wishes into an online reality.
