Content Management System (CMS)
CMS or Not?
When starting a website project, we can help you with the decision of whether or not to use a CMS because a it is not necessarily optimal for all sites. There are additional costs associated with building a site that includes a CMS, so a cost-benefit analysis should be conducted first. Typically, if the content of your website changes frequently, you should consider using a CMS. On the other hand, if you do not plan to update your website more than once every few weeks, the extra costs for deploying a CMS probably cannot be justified.

If you do decide to use a CMS, we can help you to decide which CMS is right for you. There are a lot of ‘free’ open-source CMS’s available online including Drupal, Joomla and WordPress, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Expression also has its own proprietary CMS called Firefly.
Rather than taking the cookie-cutter ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach for the choice of CMS, we believe in finding the CMS that is the best fit for your team and your project. Therefore, during the early stages of your web strategy, we will help you choose the CMS that best suits your needs. Some CMS’s are very feature-rich but are less intuitive to use, such as Drupal. Others have fewer features but are very user-friendly, such as WordPress. The goal is to find the CMS that is the best fit for your team and your project, while keeping in mind your site’s growth over the coming years.
Whatever your CMS of choice is, Expression is the ideal partner for your CMS strategy.
